Beardstown Area Special Athletes goal is to provide a safe and respectful environment for athletes to compete and participate in for all sponsored Special Olympics activities.  Their main focus is to be competitive, but to also have fun while teaching athletes new skills or improving on existing skills before, during and after an event or practice and providing appropriate socialization opportunities. They will treat athletes, coaches, families and volunteers with the utmost respect.  They encourage sportsmanship at all functions and will address those that do not in a respectful way.  They believe by doing all of this it will lead to a successful program that will fulfill all individual athletes’ needs.

BASA does not charge athletes to participate or attend events.  Accommodations, meals and transportation are usually provided for athletes and coaches.  They offer basketball, bowling and track and field to eligible participants.
